Just kidding – doesn't. But it could bring them down.

PEOPLE HAVE LOST THEIR APPETITE FOR REVOLUTION

It is time design and technology generate a new form of protesting.

DATA

The global big data market is forecasted to grow up to US$ 229,000,000,000 by 2027. People, political interest, and the TMKD kit is all it takes to repurpose the value of bio-data.

PROTESTING

In times of isolation, political anxiety, and disconnection, design & technology are sent on a mission to reassign meaning to human presence. Protesting in the 21st century should no longer require physical presence in a specific global location.

MACHINE

We trust technology now more than ever, because it keeps us connected, and grants us the competence to be seen and heard anywhere on Earth. TMKD is a speculative product of information design – a new form of protesting in the technological age.

HOW?

WHY?

WHAT?

TMKD is a cross-sectional project between design, technology and politico-social inclusion, introducing a new way of protesting in the digital age.

With almost half of Moldova's population abroad, the only place where its citizens can protest is on the internet. TMKD is a communal, inclusive digital monument placed in the heart of Moldova, designed to make protesting available from any distance.

THE STORY

The driving force behind the TMKD proposal is the present-day urgency to protest outside of the physical realm. In many countries devastated by mass-migration (namely Moldova, Republic of), too many past protest attempts proved unsuccessful. There are two main reasons for that: a huge part of the young population is already long established far away, outside their country's borders, and the threatening law enforcement officers refuse to stop defending the interests of the corrupt politicians that refuse to give up power by all means.

The protester gets a portable kit delivered at their doorstep. The kit (containing an Arduino UNO and an E.G.G. scanner) will be used to measure the pulse, level of cognitive engagement, and room humidity, thus feeding the machine with quantified bio-data, which simultaneously feeds a collective, ever expanding 3D sculpture.

The visual evolution of the AR sculpture itself can be viewed in the centre of Chisinau – the capital of Moldova, on the designated location. The Great Assembly Square is one of the most historical spots in the country – it is where Moldovan citizens, united, gather for massive demonstrations.

“Conventional wisdom dictates that if and when things go wrong with dictators, it will be because of a successful popular uprising.”
